Self-Compassion Exercises & Guided Practice by Kristin Neff

Dr. Kristin Neff is an Associate Professor of Human Development and Culture, Educational Psychology at University of Texas (Austin). She is passionate about self-compassion, so much so that she developed a theory and created a scale to measure it more than 20 years ago.

Her online hub of resources unpacks the term via various methods and encourages us to view self-compassion as simply the process of turning compassion inward. Neff believes that we all need to be kind and understanding rather than harshly self-critical when we fail, make mistakes, or feel inadequate. "We [should] give ourselves support and encouragement rather than being cold or judgmental when challenges and difficulties arise in our lives." - Neff
